Re: Star Wars and the Power of Costume at DIA

So clicking on the link says I'm not authorized to view the information. I was told and pretty sure that LFL has nothing to do with it. Each museum decides for them selves whether or not to have whatever group they want. Also: they are for some reason closing today (June 7th) at 5pm - and interesti...

Re: Since joining the 501st

Better late than never. First wanted to join in 1999,but was starting law school then and didn’t have the time (or money) to build a costume. 15 years later, I finally made the plunge due to meeting Andy through a mutual friend.

So you all have to deal with me because of Andy.

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Also, Micro Center has a few models that they have running as a demo. Might be worth if you're in the area to check out. They have the Eris from See Me CNC and the Utilimaker. The other models I'm not familiar with.

They also they a 3d scanner that I've been drooling over.

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Make magazine publishes their reviews on 3D printers. That's what I used to buy my Rostock. That and See Me CNC was going to be at Maker Faire. Speaking of that, there will be 3D printer vendors there as well, so you can see them in action.

Re: Events?

I changed your permissions on the board. You should be able to see the Official Events section and the Great Lakes Base section. Let me know if you have any issues.

Happy trooping!

Re: Special request of a droid builder (or two?)

My mouse droid will be at Great Lakes, and it's more of a remote control car than an R2 well, because it's actually is a remote control car.

Re: BB-8 Complete

All PLA. ABS warps too much. About 6 rolls for the body. I did not print the dome but that's probably 2 rolls. It matters how many shells and the percentage infill you use. Of course this includes the times I had failed prints. But this was my first project so I learned by trial and error. The bB8 ...

Yes. The sphere was 3D printed in my basement. Just ordered internal parts to hopefully get him rolling.
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Out of curiosity, how may rolls of filament did you go through? Did you use PLA or ABS?

You can start here. Make sure you follow the instructions on taking good approval pics. You don't want your application held up because of a bad pic.

I'm at this point now. Just made a shopping trip to Joann's for snaps, webbing, elastic. I have a snap anvil set.

My wife has a sewing machine and I'm in the Clinton Twp area.

Re: Wizard World Chicago

When we went to Chicago we used Priceline's Express Deals to book a hotel. You don't know the name of the hotel until after you pay, but you can get about 60% off the hotel room doing it that way. Both times we used it, we stayed in the Loop area and they were good, clean hotels. Last time we got a ...
