Re: Visting DMC Children's Hospital

Please get more information and then create an event thread. I was hoping to find a day and time when two people were available and interested rather than creating an event that no one will reply to. I've provided the information I've got so far from the hospital and there was interest in the idea ...

Re: Visting DMC Children's Hospital

So I totally dropped the ball on this over the holidays but finally blew the dust off the other day. I talked to the rep, she was hoping to come up with a weekday morning event where she could get preferably two characters to do a meet and greet with patients. Weekday morning would be bad for me so ...

Re: Iron Man/Spider Man Needed

My buddy found a Batman that can be there. Would that be an acceptable option?

Re: Iron Man/Spider Man Needed

I have a buddy with an Iron Man suit but it’s unfortunately undergoing some repairs. He said he’d post it on their IM builders forum to see if one of the other members is available. I’ll let you know if he gets me a volunteer.

Visting DMC Children's Hospital

So I have a friend that's a doctor (head of something or other) at Children's Hospital in Detroit to whom I recently proposed setting up some sort of "regular" troops for their patients. She put me in touch with their Child Life Projects Specialist to see what we could do. I've trooped the...

Re: Andrew's Death Trooper

Agreed, not an outcast. This'll be awesome! Are you able to do the voice modulation with some available gizmo or gadget? I dig the voice of the Death Troopers.

Can't wait to troop with you at MCCC.

Re: Michigan 501st - CHARITY HISTORY

Waiting on the proceeds raised by the jersey auctions before I can get you a total for the 2018 USA Hockey Star Wars night but in my discussions so far with the representative, he mentioned that the $33K we showed for last year is actually the total over the last four years. He said that they just ...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Thanks! Mighty nice of you. I'm a CAD designer too so I've got that part covered but I appreciate you offering. What softwares do you use? I have Creo/ProE at work and have been tinkering around with Fusion360 at home. Not getting it as quickly as I expected so I tend to just sneak time at work to d...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Thanks, guys. Appreciate the input. Still in a holding pattern until I see what I can see at Maker Faire this weekend. Unless something really interesting comes up, I've heard so much good pub about the Creality CR-10 that I'm kind of leaning that way. We'll see if that changes.

Anyone have a men's medium or small race shirt?

I know it may be a long shot, but I'm hoping someone out there has a medium or small 501st racing team shirt that I could try on--maybe at Maker Faire? I put in an order the other day for my 20th anniversary shirt--my first 501st shirt--and I'm a bit concerned about getting the size right. They sugg...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Good info, Todd. I will definitely steer clear of that one. Honestly, the Creality CR-10 seems to get a lot of love in the reviews I've seen and I'm kind of leaning towards that one. The Original Prusa MK2 is another strong contender--smaller print volume and quite a bit more expensive but it sounds...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Thanks, Zack. I'll have to check that one out tonight (can't see Kickstarter from work..BOO). I can certainly wait for something good. And Kevin, I wasn't even aware that 3D scanners had made their way into consumer versions yet (where have I been?). I know we've had big versions at work for years b...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Cool! Thanks, Kevin. I like those delta machines. I hadn't looked into this one before so I'll check it out and I'll see what Make magazine says about the other ones I've seen. And I can definitely look around at Maker Faire and see what's there. Hadn't thought about that.

Thanks for the leads.

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

I don't have any recommendations, but I was also looking to see if there were companies in the area that did 3D printing. I saw somebody put pieces for a Z6 riot control baton from force awakens on whitearmor.net and i wanted to try to build it.. I had great success with 3dhubs.com and in particula...

Re: Any 3D printer recommendations?

Still looking for input if anyone has any. Since writing this, doing a bit more investigation I've found that the Creality CR-10 and the Original Prusa i3 MK2 are very well reviewed units that seem to get a lot of love. Anyone have one or know anything about these kits? If you have recommendations f...

Any 3D printer recommendations?

I'm discovering more and more situations where I could benefit from having a 3D printer. As I get more into the 3PO build with the all the greeblies and as I look at other builds, it might make sense to get one. Plus, it just seems like fun to have. With that said, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the i...

Re: I'm back... need some help :)

Hey, thanks! I don't know what the difference is between ABS, PVC, or what I have. What worries me the most is the snaps - I'll need help with those. And I don't know what scoring is. I am from Royal Oak. Scoring is basically where you draw a line on the plastic with your knife blade and then snap ...
