Hey! I'm back...kinda
Hey guys! I'm trying to get back into trooping. The past couple years have been a little tough. After my divorce and trying out my new career as an artist, I've got the urge to suit up again. I'm working on upgrading my tusken and might be looking into some armor at some point. Hope to see all of yo...

Re: The knee bone's connected to the- OUCH!!!!
Cut your thighs on an angle so from the side it still looks long but cut off most of that triangle detail on the thigh. No one sees that anyway because the knee covers it. That's what I did...I was having the same problem.

I have found that an ice cube works the best. It may melt a little, but it won't have any effect on the holding power. Try it. It really works!

Re: paint cracking
For some reason I could never get fusion paint to work right. So I got some paint at the TSC store. It was some kind of industrial quick drying recoat anytime paint. I forgot the name of it, but I have a can in my mom's garage so I'll take a pic of it when I go to visit tomorrow. Or maybe this paint...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
I used the same grey for my armor as I did for the band on the back of my helmet. Rustoleum Automobile Primer Light Grey. http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/product/264507_front200.jpg I'm not sure if the darker color is approvable or not. I know that all of the other 41st's I've seen are the light ...

Re: Chewie build thread......
Maybe I don't understand, but after you "build up" on the peg portion of the stilt you would have a big foot pad...just like the drywall stilts...only you wouldn't have the flexible "ankle". You would be walking around with fused ankles like Bill Walton, which won't be easy.

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
Painting a 41 Elite is not a big deal at all. The hardest part was painting the five little stripes on the forearms...and even that was pretty simple. For the stripes I used electrical tape and kind of eyeballed the line for the paint. I layed down a tape line. I used a contrasting color for the wid...

Re: Chewie build thread......
It's super easy to walk around in drywall stilts. Just walk around for about a 1/2 hour and you should get the hang of it. Just remember lift your knees more than normal...you don't want to drag the foot pad of the stilt. That's how you trip.

He has decided that he does want to do the Senate Commando, specifically Captain Jayfon. So, we'll take all the help and guidance we can get! Sorry Rachel, I don't know TZA, and sounds like Jaster wants to help. So, you might want to talk to him. I know several other guys on the boards tha...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
Well, I got most of the spilled paint off of it. Finished the painting and glued the aerators on. Went and bought a smoked motorcycle helmet visor to replace the other one. I want to weather the helmet a little more before i clear coat it and then glue the visor in. Then I have to add the fan syste...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
Well, I fixed the paint cracks. Had a bunch of paint that bled through the masking tape, so I guess I'll be sanding that down next. There were a couple of missed spots, so I'm going to go the easy route and use a brush to touch everything up. Are the ear portions supposed to be smoked gray like the...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
what size do you have? i want to go with 25mm by 25mm and stick them right behind the aerators. i looked on the radio shack web site and they don't have any in that size. was going to get the ones from a web site that someone posted. I think mine were about 2" or 50 mm. They didn't hit my face...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
I apologize for the thread derail....but what did you use for a visor for your EVO3 clone helmet? I thought you were supposed to use a #3 welding visor, but my local welding shop only has green ones...aren't they supposed to be 'smoke' or grey color? Thanks. I believe a #3 shade is too light. You w...

Re: 41st Elite Clone w.i.p.
When I made my 41st elite. I had two fans, one sucking in one blowing out. I got some ipod speakers from the dollar store that I tore apart and used the speaker grill from that to put in my aerators.
Man...I miss that costume. I need to build another...soon!
