Re: ANOVOS TK thread

Slacker reporting... I have my Anovos armor, yep, maybe now with TWO costumes.. well... All I know, I dig the wonky helmet, can't wait to build, and look forward to having both Sandtrooper and Clean TK availability... off the bat, the plastic (referring to the helmet)... seems a little thin? Already...

Marche du Nain Rouge - Episode 7 (Parade in Detroit)

Greetings from 'The Slacker' (seriously, I need to change my user name). I was asked about 501st participation in this years 7th Annual Marche du Nain Rouge Parade in Downtown Detroit, and I asked the folks to submit a formal request via the formal channels, which I was told they did do... but I'd m...

Unofficial Troop - just for the record

Hello, 'Slacker' here (I really should change my user name)... I just wanted to put on record for our donations tracking, an event I did today for a friends 3 year old's birthday. My friend George asked if I would attend in armor, and I simply asked if he would be kind enough to make a donation to a...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

Whoo-hoo! Just got my 'color rank' pieces (4 blue 18mm x 24mm switch lens, and 2 red 18mm x 24mm switch lens), from Newark. Now to get the aluminum strips, proper adhesive, and some patience!

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I would say that 'armor' (like TK armor) while it has it's own challenges, once it's built... at least it doesn't need ironing, lol. The Imperial Officer uniform has the need of being 'fit', I'm lucky to have someone skilled to help me, and really wants it to be as perfect as I do. I just found boot...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

My girlfriends Mom saw 'beautiful wool gabardine at joann's -it was olive'. I personally want to do the black (hey, it' s my style) but on the off-chance I see a quality olive at the right price, I may go that direction. I just figure (also) that black is 'easy' (in terms of color matching the film....

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I just got my Imperial Insignia discs in the mail from a quality source I'll just say is 'King!' I got the grooved ones with the notch, I just have to drill out the centers (need to figure out doing that without ruining these things!). Is there a tutorial out there for making the rank bars? I haven'...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I just found some dosimeters on ebay that I think will work for the code cylinders, I just have to paint the tops blue. http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-2-STAR-WARS-TYPE-DOSIMETER-PENS-CODE-CYLINDERS-/260656450240?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item3cb055cac0 I'm only getting two, s...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I'd like to believe.. while most of the 'licensed' stuff is not really up to snuff... that they would do at least a decent job on boots that are 'copied from the archive', and cost well over $200! They say they don't ship for 30 days, and I've got to do some research before I make a hasty decision (...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I should have waited, lol... I ended up buying four blue and two red from the newark site! I could use help with the metal part :) I've been searching around for the boots, I just saw these, from shop.starwars.com Imperial Officer Boots http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?topcatID=1300264;p...

Re: Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

btw... what 'rank' should I give myself (lol). Really it's more just what I think looks good without going crazy. Since I'm going to be wearing black, I was thinking about this: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100129202516/starwars/images/thumb/d/d9/Combadge.jpg/107px-Combadge.jpg For a Comm...

Re: Helmet 'upgrade'

Just a followup post, over time, this helmet holds up, but some cracks formed near the seems from the front 'jowl' to the rest of the helmet (very small, and you cannot see them unless you are really up close and looking for them). Also, the blue cheek stripes, tend to start to peel up slightly on t...

Re: Helmet refurb assistance

I have a hard-hat liner in my MRCE re-mod helmet. That is a much heavier helmet too, and most of the time the top of the helmet ends up on my head, lol. I currently have the hard-hat liner held in with velcro, but I'm going to take the time to make a permanent placement for the clips (hopefully some...

Going to try for custom made 'Stormtrooper' Officer

I've been struggling with 'new costume' ever since getting my FX oh-so many years ago. Upgrading the helmet helped that suit (I still like the sculpt of the FX, it just looks good). So many different costumes to choose from... So I'm going to go for a 'Stormtrooper Officer' (black Imperial officer u...

Re: Looking for ideas for a 'pull-string voice box'

I've seen that Radio Shack unit, it's pretty cool, I'm hoping to find something that can do more than one sample (maybe two, three). I found someone on youtube that made a 'Ken' doll costume with a pull string, and he actually emailed me a lengthy description of what he did, rigging up a pull string...

Looking for ideas for a 'pull-string voice box'

This isn't really Star Wars, but could be.. trying to help figure out how to make a pull string voice box, for my girlfriend's Halloween costume, something she could put her own voice in, but have a pull string activate it. I though about getting a pull string doll, tearing it apart, and trying to r...

Re: Helmet 'upgrade'

I am happy to announce, that I am done messing around with this darn thing! It's DONE! Fans work, speakers work, sounds great, looks great, ready to troop! Sure, it has its flaws, but I'm happy! Re: Helmet 'upgrade'

ugh... SO CLOSE! I have installed all the electronics, but I'm having microphone/feedback issues, plus, need to actually sort out some engineering on it for that, right now, it's all in there for 'testing', fans work, speakers work, and lenses are in (externally, the bucket is done, and looks great!...
