any short troopers out there?

Post by TKed »

so I know that the cut out is 5'5. However, anything below 6 feet tall is "short for a stormtrooper" how short troopers deal with the line " are u a little short for a stormtrooper" I am 5'7 and watching family guy blue harvest game me insight of what to respond. But I dont think will be a good line. I just say "move along"... any experiences with this??

It seems to be the line the general public remembers, so we hear it ALL THE TIME. Doesn't matter if the trooper is 6'2", somebody will throw that line at him.

The actual ANH movie Stormtroopers were between 5'7"-5'11".

I do not really get the "too short" line shot at me. But I do get the "too big" line.

I just reply the Lord Vader sends me in on the BIG JOBS.

Well, we do have 2 Stormtroopers in Michigan that are 6'5". They get the opposite line from people. "Aren't you too.....tall....to be a Stormtrooper?"

I'd love to do a stormtrooper but being over 6'7'' I'm afraid I'd look goofy, like I already do out of costume  . Not that I advocate not doing a costume because of your "natural proportions", because I may still do one in the future if I still have the bug. I'm exhausting the "tall guy" costumes first though, as I begin work on my Vader.

Johnny is right. Very tall or very short people are somewhat limited in whatever costume choices they do that will appear "right looking" to the character they are trying to portray.

Well, when all your current armor kits are completed, you'll still have 11 other costumes to choose from.

Funny, that is the same response I got from Lumpy when my Chewie was approved.

I am discovering the Vader build is one that cannot be rushed, with our own ACE props guy retiring and a lengthy wait list for a Darth Stone helmet/armor it is going be years. Which is good since I need to save up $$ for it anyway and I want to redo much of my Chewie.

Derek, I'm surprised you get the "ATALSFAS" that much, as you look to be the perfect sized TK. I am guessing people just like to quote star wars and all of us have to hear the same thing over and over. At least with the new movies we will get some more variety.

Another thing is Jango, Boba and the Clonetroopers. Everyone is a clone of Jango, right? Well the Jango actor is 5’7”, and the Boba actor is 6’. That almost a half foot height difference between father and son …even though Boba was before Jango. Chicken and the egg story.

When I get the short trooper question (I'm just over 6' in my TK) from an adult failing to be original, I respond back "Aren't you a little old to be living in your parent's basement?"

At 5'8", my standard responses were "nope, I'm just the right height to hit you in the center of gravity" or "nope, screen just makes it look that way."

Or if I'm really feeling mean, "your mom didn't think so." ;)

When I was walking around with 1440 who's somewhere north of 6'6" in his TK, I just said "nah, he's just too tall."

When I had my TIE pilot, I was called "Vader" more times than I can care to remember.
