Hey all. I have decided to make the Biker Scout my next build. Any advice for who makes the best kit? Want to start acquiring the materials needed and budgeting for whatever I can't afford yet.

Kind of a mash up of Biker Scout and Snowtrooper.

What's the cost of a biker scout?

My TK was a little over a thousand. If it's a lot cheaper than that, I'd be up for making a biker scout!

Bikers and TK's are roughly the same price range.

I spent a ton of time researching, reading the forums, and interacting with varied dealers when I was working on mine. I also have quite a bit of extra material for some little things you may need and could avoid purchasing.

IMO...the very first step to inquire about or work towards is the soft goods (cumberbund, pouches, vest, jumpsuit). You get all of that taken care than the rest is pretty much gravy.

Join Bikerscout.Net in order to gain access to the various build threads and tutorials. Some great people on there. There is a very nice comparison thread there relative to the three main types of armor as well as a thread detailing the helmets and variations between the different casts/builds/productions that have been made with regards to head size etc.

Shoot me a line and I'd be happy to share my personal choices for vendors as well as some areas of concern with others.

Correct. Soft goods and boots are the tough parts.

Of the armor, the only difficult part is the helmet assembly. You do have an option to buy it assembled.

....and it's also good that as of a few weeks ago, I became the only GLG member who knows exactly the correct screen-accurate strapping method used on the real Biker Scout costumes.

Since you're not a Biker Scout, it doesn't affect your TK strapping.

Since you're not a Biker Scout, it doesn't affect your TK strapping.

You had me at "screen accurate strapping"...drop me a line. Lots of new info coming out of the EX camp also as they have had a ton of access to the scout props of late.

Of note..It just recently came to light that the TD hose..is actually not a hose at all. It's an inner tube with some sort of cable (telephone/wire type) wrapped around it to give the impression of what we all currently have (the vacuum hose type look). The exact cable type has yet to be determined.

Don't know why LFL choose to make fake ribbed hosing, when real ribbing hoses were available back then. It's a straight pipe with cable glued around and around and around to look like a ribbed hose.

I'll PM you some info.
