Lost another pound. The strength training is going well. My weights have been increased a little. Also drinking protein shakes after the work outs.

Well, going to sign up for the gym on friday. I have been working days this week, and I am off on friday, so I will be up early enough to get my arse in gear. Dragon Con will be here before I know it.

Goal: 34 inch waist and flatter stomach. The size in my face and neck, yes Rob, insert funny joke about Ram Man here.. , will come off first. Usually does.

I have a personal trainer that works at my work and he is going to set down with me and give me a rundown of what I need to do for a good work out. Cant wait.

So frustrating!! I am good at my food intake and we are hitting the gym like we are supposed to. But I am finding it hard to stay motivated with this whole strength training thing, when none of the weight is falling off. I know that with strength training that muscle weighs more then fat and that I should see my measurements changing. So I will dig out my measurement tape and see what my measurements are. I need something to keep me motivated.

The WW people told my wife that you either lose pounds or inches, but not usually both at the same time.
Hope the tale of the tape will bear that out for you.
Keep it up!!

I need to jump on this bandwagon. I seriously need to loss the weight. It has taken me some time not to be embarrassed able to say how much I weighed. After being behind a desk for almost 5 years I was pushing 400lbs. I don't know whether I was above or below seeing that not many scales could hold me. That weight is just not acceptable anymore. I need to get health. I'm finally moving in the right direction. During the summer I was down to 395 and a month ago I made it to 380.

My ultimate goal is to get somewhere between 200-250, but that's a long time goal. I'm starting small and want to get to 350 so I can play on our Wii Fit. Today I'm 378.5 and this is where I'm starting.

02-01-10: 378.5/378.5/350 (start)

Welcome aboard, Andy. The hardest thing to do is to admit the situation to yourself. But once you get past that step, then you're already on your way.

Any questions or requests for advice, bring 'em on.

OK, so, I ended up working that Friday, and DIDN'T get to the gym to sign up and I didn't get to talk to the PT guy... soooo lets be hopeful for tomorrow. On a side note, I did stop drinking MT Dew... I was drinking 6 to 8 a day. It was diet, but still pop. I haven't had but 3 drinks, from Jackie's bottle..he he, since Sunday. And if anyone knows me... that's like quitting smoking. And yes, Ive done that as well, so I can compare the 2.

Is this now a confessional to admit you've been drinking MY Mt. Dew?

I'm also refocusing. Negotiations this past month have NOT been Weight Watcher friendly. Eating out for lunch every day with limited restaurant options (note - The Wheat & Rye with their beyond supersize food is not good for the waist!!) has resulted in added pounds making a repeat appearance.

Unfortunately, the contract wasn't ratified by the union this past week so we're heading back to the table. UGH! Hoping a second round will result in a workable deal as well as some normalcy back in my life! Going to try to utilize the awesome Pilates workout I found on NetFlix along with tracking my food again.

I lost some more weight this week. :) I am now going to track weight (lb), measurements(in), and BMI to track my progress. I did some research and it is a combination of all three of these to see how your fitness goals are going. So even if the weight number doesn't go down as quickly, I should see a change in some of the other numbers to help keep me motivated. :)

1/7: 160/159/140 (-1.0) (BF% 21)
1/14: 160/156.5/140 (-2.5) (BF% 20)
1/22: 160/156.5/140 (0) (BF% 21)
2/11: 160/159.5/140 (+3) (BF% 19)

So here I was getting all depressed and ashamed that the 156 seemed more like an anomaly more than anything else since after I posted that, I shot right back up to 159 over the past few weeks and had been hovering there, ±3 lbs. (more often in the + direction). But then I checked my bodyfat percentage this morning and saw it under 20%!

Woooo!

While I still have my doubts about its accuracy (it's really difficult to pack on 3 lbs. of lean mass in a month), just seeing that number was an ego boost so I won't give up now!

It'll probably even back out over the course of the week and my number next week will be back up to 21-22, but maybe not!

Rome I question my BF% from my scale all the time. Do you measure yours or is it from an electronic scale?

The reason I ask is that at your ~160lbs and ~20% BF, that means you have about 30lbs of fat on you. That just does not seem possible to me.

Is there some phisological explination that I don't know or understand?

The scales tend to use the BMI and the BMI is BS. When I was 18 I was 175 and 12% Body fat. I got that info from a sports doc when they had these things that pulled and pinched at your skin. But it I were to use 175 lbs and 5'6 tall then I woul dhave been 35 lbs over weight and concidered obese.

Now that I type that, I am now depressed :( God that was so long ago :( CURSE YOU ICE CREAM & XBox CURSE YOU!!!!!

The scale uses electrical resistance from one foot to the other via the metal plates, so yeah, it's going to be badly inaccurate. This would explain why I enter the same height every time but I get different BF% numbers even if the actual weight doesn't change.

A while back, I checked from before I stepped in the shower and after I got out, and I had a 3% variance in bodyfat from those measurements.

I don't care what kind of monster-awesome shower anyone has; if it's not actually flaying the flesh from your bones, you're not losing 3% bodyfat from just taking a shower! :D

I look at it more like psychological motivation than anything else rational or realistic. I could probably check right now and it might say that I'm at 24% BF (there's no possible way to gain 6-8 lbs. in less than 24 hours) based on fluid retention or whatever. Like BMI, it's just a ballpark figure but I tell you what. Seeing that 19% -- even if it wasn't real -- was pretty encouraging just to keep working out and keep on track!

Right, and BMI gets more inaccurate the more athletic the person is.

And don't forget to include Little Caesar's $5 pizzas into your curses, too. :)

Don't under estimate the Commando 450.

Ok, so its been 16 days without a M Dew... :whatthe: Doing well though. No more headaches due to the fact i am drinking unsweetened tea. Still has caffeine. But.. Im not trying to kick that yet. In due time.

So, so far.. Started back up at:

Still watching what I eat.. even though last weekend, I was a HUGE part of Thumpers bad eating... hmmmm Hungry Howies Pizza.. hmmmmm .. soooo gooood.... oh sorry.. BUT.. still managed to loose 2 more lbs.

More to come. Need to hit that goal by MCCC!!!
