Once again back on WW and tracking my points. Weighed in last week and I'm down .6 lbs. It's a start...need to get back to my goal weight of 130! Obviously if I slack off and eat whatever in the heck I want, I gain weight...who knew?

135.2/134.6/130

Better, but still haven't been paying very good attention to the quantity of food this week. I've been eating like I've been working out, but rather than stopping just shy of being full, I'm going to the end, which is just maintenance rather than weight loss.

Something is amiss here, as while I haven't been working out this week, gaining 3 lbs. seems to be a little strange. That would effectively mean that I would have had to consume an extra 1500 calories per day which means approximately 3500-3700 cals in a day, which seems to be a little unreasonable.

And of course, 12 hours later, I decided to check again just to see what was up, and my result this time was 159.0 & 19%. Suffice to say that I did not lose 5 lbs. of fat and gain 4 lbs. of lean mass in the course of 12 hours!

Made an important decision today...I'm going back to the original WW points system. Since they changed in November, I've been gaining. I was allowed 18 points per day and was losing consistently. With the new system, I'm given 29 points per day. I did a little rough math and what I used to eat in a day for the 18 points does not equal the 29 points currently...so...to get to the minimum daily point requirement, I had to eat more.

Granted, a lot of people have done really well on the new plan but it's not working for me. So, I'm going back to the old reliable plan that I had lost over 20 pounds on. Hopefully, the pounds that made a reappearance will disappear again ;)

My wife is not a fan of the new system either.

I'm not sure why I don't like it. It seems simple enough and I totally understand the concept for changing the points calculation but I guess the fact that I was on the old plan for over a year and very successful could have something to do with it. Maybe I was setting myself up for failure with a little doubt in my head that the new plan could work. Whatever it was, I'm back on the old plan and hoping to see the pounds disappear!

My wife likes the new plan and has lost quite a bit since starting it in late December. She had done the old plan too. She likes that with the new plan the fruits and veggies are all free. It makes it easier for her to fill up on them, instead of something else.

I agree with your decision though. You need to do what works best for you.

That could be a contributing part there. Despite the low-calorie/no-fat content of fruits and vegetables, there are still SOME calories in there, especially with fruits and the natural sugars and depending on the vegetable in question (and what is considered a "free" vegetable; potatoes would have a much higher caloric content than celery, for example).

Well the warm weather is back so its time to loose the extra winter pounds. I want to get back to my ideal weight of 225lbs. I will be updating my post on Mondays with my progress.

I honestly think that could be part of it. I've always eaten fruit as part of the diet and counted the points for them (typically 1 to 2 points per serving) as part of my overall daily goal of 18. To consume them as free foods now and have a total of 29 daily feels like I'm eating too much. Veggies, for the most part, on both the old and new plans were zero points - with the exception of things like corn and potatoes. Corn and taters are still point heavy on the new plan too.

Strange thing is that it's been really hard this week to convert back to the old plan...I'm considering this week as "transition" Hopefully next week will be easier when I get back in the old swing of things.

I suppose I could resurrect this thread...

I started my journey on Sept 12th. Started off at 232lbs with an almost 40 inch waist and a 2xl shirt. Mostly to fit my fat gut.

I have since then cut my weight down from 232lbs to 208lbs and from a 2xl to a L/xl shirt pending on who the maker is. Working out 4 days a week and doing cardio 2 times a day at 6 days a week. On top of counting my daily intake of what I eat, on a 2020 cal diet. I have cut out beer since that day as well. This is a life style change for my whole house. Jackie is also down in weight and size as well. My kids are now eating fruit and fruit juice more now as apposed to unhealthy snacks.

I used to eat about 2 to 3 family sized bags of Doritos a week. On top of fast food every day. I am happier and full of more energy then I have been in a long while. I will post up progress pix when I get to where I want to be, which should be in about 8 weeks. :D

Good job sir. I started back on the right track early this month. Not doing the work outs yet. Just eating right and
controlling portions. Feb, I will be looking into a gym.

Well I started myself this month.....since jan 1st...I cut out soda and fast food. Then 2 weeks after that I got more strict...healthy oatmeal in the morning, then a piece a fruit for a snack, and then salad or chicken breast for lunch then onto another piece of fruit and salad or chicken breast for dinner...I'm down about 7lbs is my guess. I gues got a nice scale this week. But I am really proud of myself so far....

Excellent!

Another thing that'll help too is a food scale. Yes, pain in the butt to measure out everything....but it helps! Good luck, Jay!
