Awesome, Thanks for the quick response. I also got a reply from the maker of the armor and he more or less said the same thing.

So, based on your note above will I still submit my membership pictures through you when the time comes or will they go directly to the LMO?

They will still come to me first. I will look them over. If everything checks out, then I forward them on to the LMO team.

Here are some progress updates on my kama. Here is the picture I'm using for reference.

Image

I have two different fabrics selected but I'm on the fence on which one I want to use. The first photo shows the foot armor with the two fabrics and also and outline of the blue panel. The intent is to sew on a panel in blue and then use fabric paint for the line work on the panel. I'm also guesstimating the size of the panel. I think I have it reasonably close but again, some other opinions would be handy. The second pic shows the two fabric against my chest piece as another point of reference.

Based on how your pictures show up on my monitor. I think the lighter fabric better matches the reference but the darker fabric better matches the paint on your armor. Unless you plan on repainting your armor, I would go with the darker.

Meesa dieing here. Six weeks of hard core work on my Arc Trooper and now I'm waiting for my wife to finish my kama and my backack and guns to show up. I've had nothing substantial to work on in almost 2 weeks :(

I got way too much satisfaction putting together my armor. This is going to turn into a long term expensive hobby for sure.

I vacation at the beginning of August but things are on track and I hope to have 501st approval and to join you all for the Midland Loons game. It would be a great troop for me as it's relatively close to home.

Well, no major developments to really show for the last couple of weeks. About to head on vacation and I expect I'll have my boots, backpack and pistols waiting upon my return. In the mean time I did take care of a couple of minor things. The ever important transportation unit:

And then the ever important ventilation system. Still haven't figured out what I want to do for a mic and amplifier but that's low priority for me at the moment. It made a huge difference for me having that air moving around inside the helmet. Much less claustrophobic.

This fan blows up towards the top of my head.

This one blows across my visor.

I'm hoping to wrap up this build and get my app approved in time to join you for the Midland Loons game on the 20th.

Nice fan set up. I know the one I tried to rig didn't circulate air so much as blast it to one spot, which was almost worse than stale and non moving air.

The build looks good. I havent seen many animated clones, but it's pretty cool.

I was quite suprised to come home yesterday and find a box containing by guns and backpack had arrived about 2 days earlier than projects. Of course I had lawn work to do etc (damn RL). I still managed to get the guns painted and began trimming and assembling the backpack.

It's still going to be a tight finish with the kama but I'm quite please to have an extra couple days to work on the pack.

Still haven't received my boots from crow62 but I have some that I can use for approval and trooping. I'm just not incredibly happy with them.

This should be my last interim update thread. The only thing not done at this point is the kama. As soon as my wife has that complete it's just a quick reassembly of the cod piece and I'm photo ready :) Look for those pics in the next few days as I'm really trying to get approval before next weekend.

Delivery day! Was very surprised when I came home Tuesday and saw this sitting on the counter (was 2 days earlier than expected)

I didn't get progress pics of all the stages as I was in high gear trying to finish out the build. Here is the mounting detail I used for my holsters. I think I used 3/16" post screws with a washer for added stability.
Image

Here you can see the felt I added along the front and back of the holster and the foam insert into the bottom to protect the tip.

An in progress pic of the backpack.

Picture with all the greeblies mounted. I split the accent bands on the right side so that the pipe sat flush with the box. I also used Kevin's technique on the toilet plunger so that the upper pipe did not require and offset.

Image

Both pipes were screwed from the inside to hold them in place. The mounting plate was the last thing I glued into place.

Picture of the mounting plate prior to glueing it in place. I cut down the plate by about 1/2" from where Steelblitz had it marked. This allowed the magnets to make direct contact with the recessed area of the backpiece.

Pictures inside the back piece as well as a picture of the magnets I used. I picked them up from Lowe's. I'm pretty happy with the hold. It wiggles a little bit if I shake it while holding the chest piece horizontal to the ground. I may go back and add two more but it's not likely to fall off in the mean time.

And the final shots of the backpack mounted to the chest piece.
