Some assembly required.

Post by n0c00lgamertag »

Well, I got my ATA kit today! Thanks to Terrell for a great looking kit and not being annoyed by my multiple, "how long until my stuff is done" emails. It was also nice to meet and talk with him about all things armor. Thanks again!
Now I just have to figure out where to start.

Well, after getting my kit and jumping in right away, here is the right bicep. Was a little nerve racking at first, not knowing where to trim and worrying about messing something up, but that went away after a bit.
Now I am just waiting for the glue to dry to start on the next part.
Dry faster glue! I don't want to wait 24 hours!

Wow, makes me glad that CA glue was recommended for my Arc Trooper build. Ten second cure time ftw. Looking forward to seeing this all come together. I can't imagine what it's like doing a TK. At least with a clone you can bondo and paint mistakes.

ATA makes a great set of armor. I look forward to the progress on your build.

E6000 does take a while to cure but it is a great adhesive and worth the wait.

Well all, it's been awhile since I last posted any armor build progress pix. I have just been so caught up in the build that I didn't think to update. So here you go... Shoulders, biceps, forearms and hand plates are done for both sides. The chest plate is trimmed up and even though it does not show it in the picture, the shoulder straps are glued and drying as we speak. I am currently working on the back plate and hope to have that done soon.

The goal is to have no gap between the kidney and back plate.

Can you tweak it by dropping the back and slightly raising the kidney plate?

Everything else looks to fit your great! How much do you weigh?

One possible way is to readjust the shoulder straps. They come down a little far in the front, but not enough in the back, so if you adjust the positioning of the shoulder straps to even out a little more in the back, that might drop the back plate down by up to an inch to make up for it. The chest plate could also stand to come down just a tad, because it looks like it's about to cut your face off if it slide up any more! :)

Thanks for the help. I will try and lower both. Wasn't sure, so that is why I posted the pix. Will readjust then repost.

If I was holding onto a 45 pound barbell plate and stood on a scale, I'd weigh as much as Ripcode.

Well, here it is. Five weeks into my build and it is done except for the mic tips and holster which I am waiting on in the mail. This was the first full fit test and I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think???

Kit looks great to my uneducated eyes :P

It is funny though how "off" the helmet looks without the mic tips.

Looks great, and you got the spacing problem in the back fixed perfectly.
