Harp's 327th Star Corps WIP - APPROVED!

Post by Wags »

Just a note on Steve Mitchell: We set out his armor on Jan 1st and started on a game plan on getting started. I have all the supplies (and tips and ideas thanks to Rip and Blizz, thanks again) so this should be a quick build. He is very excited as am I !! Oh, Steve is registerd here now as Harp.

Also my other friend, Mike Barnes, has started his trip into Vader. We started on his under suit last week, and he has his helmet and belt w/boxes and his FX saber. Also has his gloves and boots. The helmet needs a little work but I'll help him with that as well. He isnt registered here yet but he will be soon.

I believe that they are both coming over on Sat to work. We are going to be at it all day in the garage. I'll keep all posted.

Just a heads up on Harps build. He is very dedicated to his job so he doesent have a lot of time to post so I am going to help him out a little. (hope you dont get mad Stevo!!!)

So far, Harp and I have been busy, busy, busy. Spending the last few Saturdays working 10+ hrs getting some good progress done. Here is what we have so far.

Helmet: Done, needs a visor still.
Chest/back: Fit,cut and ready for paint.
Ab/lower back: Fit,cut and ready for paint.
Forearms: Fit,cut, glued, bondoed, sanded and seamless. Ready for paint.
Biceps: Fit,cut, glued, bondoed, sanded and seamless. Ready for paint.
Shoulder bells: Fit,cut and ready for paint.
Elbows: Fit,cut ready for paint and elastic.
Hand plates: Cut, need some trimming and sanding, then ready to be attached to his gloves.
Knees: Cut and need some trimming and a really cool way of installing that Harp thought of!! (Im not going to tell   )
Thighs: Fit, cut and 75% glued and bondoed.
Belt: Its cut, glued and has a couple of coats of paint.

Some things that he has and need minimal work are: Pauldron, ammo packs and pistols and holsters.

Ok so thats all the halabalooo on Harps progress. I have pics but am way to lazy right now to post. I'll let Harp do that!!!!

In the pic above that its My belt (on the left) and Harps belt(on the right) side by side. Same maker.

Also, the thighs are done and painted as well, but forgot to take a pic of them. We have a couple coats of paint on the pistols and the ammo packs are almost done. Still need to work on the pauldron, just repaint the shoulder plate, and that is it for that. Havent started on the shoes but should be easy enough. And finally the weathering.

Next weekend we will sew up the kama and attach it and hopefully start fitting parts!!!!! Due to his job Harp is out of town again till wed. But we will be back at it again next weekend.

Ya know it is just like that!! I have a blast doing this. Harp did all the painting, sanding and cutting. I just did the glueing, with the help of Harps hands.., and glopping on the bondo on the seams. But I have to say, he is awesome at weathering. He does a Fantastic job.

Greetings from Jacksonville, FL!!!!

Thanks for all the positive feedback!!!!

Its nice to know that all the hard work is appreciated!

Thanks to arccommander this thing is going to get done by Ripcode's mandated goal of March 1st! I was just manual labor in this project.

Thanks to Ripcode for putting the fire under our collective butts! It really helps to have a deadline to keep you on track. We should be ready for pics within the next two weeks  !!!!!

The real test has been the fact that my new flat screen tv and Xbox 360 has yet to disctracted me from working on the armor :whatthe:

There is some Gears of War, Zombie slaying, and Indiana Jones movie marathon in my near future!!!

We did some intial fitting last night. I would say we're about 80% complete. I'm hoping we're ready for my 501st submission pics by the end of next weekend.

The painting and weathering has been my favorite part hands down! I can't wait to troop in this :D
