HELP - My costume stinks!!!

I got my biker scout costume in the mail today :D :D   :D
However, when I opened it up,I discovered that the person I bought it from must have been a smoker :x :x :x
The whole costume simply REEKS (no offense to any smokers out there, but it's bad!!)

Should I get the soft parts (flight suit, gloves, etc.) dry cleaned or can I just wash them?
What about the armor parts??
I'll take any suggestions because Mrs. Cblack (you know, my boss  ) will not be too pleased.

Thanks and I hope to see you soon.
Chris

Are the soft parts machine washable? If so, wash them with soap and baking soda and then be sure to use fabric softener in the wash as well as a fabric softener sheet. On the non-washable items like the boots and holster, wash the surface as much as you can and then leave them in a sealed rubbermaid tote with a box or two of baking soda.

If the fabric however is NON-Machine dry...Air dry it!

Then like with Jaster's idea take those and put them in a tote box and use fresh and extra smelly dryer sheets and stuff them in it and seal it for 2-3 days Then just air dry it again to get the very fresh scent out of it.

A flight suit is fairly cheap (around $30-40) so if it can't be washed, toss it and get something that doesn't reek. The cummerbund can probably be machine-washed.

The gloves would probably need to be dry-cleaned. Wash the hell out of the plastics with anything non-abrasive (no cleanser! :)), because the plastics will also hold onto that tobacco stink.

(oh, and for the record, I have zero compunction about offending smokers about smoking. I was one for 10 years, pack a day at least, I know all the excuses, I've used them myself, and have turned into "One Of Those Ex-Smokers" after I quit)

Another way to remove stink from plastics After the washdown is to seal them in a bag with a Few boxes of baking soda poured in. Make sure the parts are well covered. Use even more than you think you need and then let them sit for like a week then blow off the powder because it will scratch the plastic. It will help draw out the stink . As a severe asthmatic I have to do this with stuff I get some times. Just the smell can make me have an attack. Good luck
