FOO's SEV progress

Post by DarthFOO »

Well the shoes started it out, and I just finished my neck seal. So take a gander and tell me what you think. I threw in a shot of my bucket on with it, cuz I dig my lid!

Sev:
UK: Games Workshop Crimson Gore - This will have to be painted on by hand, since Sev's paint job is seemingly dried on blood, in an intricate pattern that should be carefully hand-drawn on with a soft pencil, then painted over. Games Workshop Paints are also available in the USA.
US: Tapestry Wine acrylic paint

(stay away from bright reds as they look like fake blood. Try to remember that real blood dries much much darker)

Looks like the Costume Reference Library entry is still under construction for Sev in the 501st Members Only area at CT.net. Here's the one for Boss, so this is a good start.
RC: Republic Commando Boss (EU) -Delta Squad

RC: Republic Commando Boss (EU) -Delta Squad must have the following:

1. Black Under suit –One piece or two piece. Commonly used items include “Under Armor” or “Starter” warm-up suits, dance unitards or dive skin.
Note: Game stills do not indicate any specific raised detail on the undersuit.

2. Black Gloves (gauntlet style) –Aviator gloves, etc

3. RC Neck Seal
Note -The neck seal has horizontal ribs, between 1/4" and a 1/2" thick. There is the 'bib' that covers the entire area within the neckline of the chest/back armor. The 'bib' should include the trapezoidal detail shapes and can be done with or without 3-dimensional features.

4. Armor consisting of:
(1) Chest
(1) Back
(2) Shoulders - Shoulder bells shall have recessed or attached resin detail in the centers.
(2) Upper Arms -Seamless
(2) Forearms -Seamless with raised or attached resin detail on the tops.
(2) Elbows
(2) Hand plates
(1) Ab Plate
(1) Butt Plate
(2) Upper thighs -Seamless
(2) Knees
(2) Lower Legs
(2) Elbow Straps
(2) Forearm Details (typically resin castings)
(1) RC Backpack with 2 digit translucent ID number. ID number is 38.

Note: All armor should be matte white or light gray (NO GLOSS) and weathered. Painter's touch white primer and Rustoleum Plastic Primer are recommended matte white paint choices. Black wash is an example of an acceptable weathering technique.

5. Helmet – RC style Clone Helmet - Fan made Bucket. Matching Armor Color
- Black / Dark Blue Mirrored Visor, Motorcycle Visor
- Right Side LED holder.
- Visor EL Wire (Blue), LED and Acrylic Rod also acceptable.
- (2) Aerators

6. Boots -White, ankle high or tall enough to cover the ankle and eliminate any black undersuit visible at the ankle area in armor. Boots must be lace-less, flat soled boots. The boots have armor detail ("toe" armor, a strap that goes over the top of the foot, with two protruding disks at each side (reference Visual Dictionary)). There should be no markings or labels from the shoe makers, ie no Nike swoosh symbol.

7.Items specific to RC: Republic Commando Boss (EU) -Delta Squad:
(1) Additional Right Shoulder Plate
(1) Standard Backpack ID “38”

Boss Paint Scheme: “red Orange” over basic matte white or Light gray, moderate to heavy weathering and battle damage. Humbrol Model Enamal # 132, XXX, XXX or XXX. The following items are painted red orange:

* (4) Red Orange Dots (rank) on left chest.
* shoulder add on piece
* shoulder bells
* backpack
* chest
* back
* biceps
* hand backs
* forearm
* forearm detail
* helmet stripe

RC: Republic Commando Boss (EU) -Delta Squad should have the following:
(These are recommended, but not required)

1. Vibro Blade in left hand plate
2. DC17 Assault Rifle
And/Or
3. DC15 pistol(s)
4. Hard pistol Holster(s) on thighs.
5. Bow Caster
6. Wookiee rocket launcher
7. Trandoshan automatic rifle.

RC: Republic Commando Boss (EU) -Delta Squad may have the following:
(These are optional. They are accepted, but not required)

1. Voice Amplifier Systems
2. Helmet Fans

The following costume modifications are encouraged:
1. Chest and back plate should match together at the sides giving it a united appearance
2. Limit or eliminate the use of metallic silver weathering
3. Black police style tactical gloves - must cover wrists.
4. RC Backpack with 2 digit illuminated ID number.
5. Helmet LED holder with working LED bulb.

Yup I designed and built it myself. I used a "dickie" as a pattern, then used spandex for the chest and shoulders. I did 2 layers. On the bottom layer I tack stiched the craft foam trapazoids, then I pulled the second layer over and tack stiched again. Then I took the machine and went around each piece so that they were sandwiched between the layers and stuck out when you put it on. The actual collar is a spandex also with 1/2 inch cotton pipping from the fabric store. I measured the height based on pipping, doubled it and cut out a piece that matched the distance around the biggest part of my neck. then I sewed one half of a velcro strip on the bottom half. I repeat this process on the other end/ opposite side to allow the velcro to match up. This way when I folded it over the pipping could still be pulled through. Then I folded the material over then measured 5/8 and sewed a line across creating a tube. Then I ran the pipping through the tube. Repeated that 5 times and....vwala! I am keeping the collar and chest section seperate. I put on the neck portion, velcro it, then pull the chest section over and the spandex matches up perfectly. Now I sit and wait for my armor to be made my PA........waiting sucks!

Me too, we're in the same production run. I'm switching gears and changing over to Boss. I'm picking up my CCC Deece and pistol this weekend directly from Ed and my neck seal shipped out today from South Carolina.

Aaron,

Great job on the neck seal!!
While you wait for your armor, you should make several more of those neck seals and sell them to other costumers looking to do RCs..

Wouldn't be a bad side gig for you. I'm sure many people would be interested.

Think about it.

That's a good idea. I'll just need to figure out a fair price. One Hundred Billion Dollars....MMMWWaah ha ha (pinky to corner of lips). I may go ahead and do that. Anybody interested?

Well after some thought and talking to some other GLG members I have decided to go ahead and do a run of RC Shoes and Neck Seals. After running by the boys the price would be $50 for shoes + s/h, $60 for neck seal + s/h, or $100 for both + combined s/h. I will try to buy up the shoes that are the most common sizes, but having a list of requests would make it much better, that way I don't have FOO shoe emporium in my shop and no buyers...lol. So if you are looking for an RC shoe I'm your guy. Heck these would probably work for most clones from the stock photos I see.
