Time for a big gun, but I'll need help

Post by Lumpy »

I'm looking into getting a kit to build an MG-34 to go with my Biker Scout costume.

If I go through with this, I assume I can count on my GLG brothers and sisters to help with advise on the assembly and such??
Thanks,
Chris

That gun in the DLT-19 configuration(same as MG-34 but with a few small added details) is on my wish list.
Are you looking to buy one or make a scratchbuilt one?
Sci-Fire made a great hyperfirm MG-34 but it's kind of pricey. I am currently looking for a good scratch built tutorial. I found one a while back but can't remember where. If I find it again, I'll post it for you.

Check with Cushman in Detroit, He is all about WWII replicas, and this is a German machine gun.

He has the non-paintball replicas on this page.

I've heard that the Cushman guns are not very durable and lack detail. The big guns on the site look good but the E-11 looks bad, in my opinion. Has anyone here had any experience with them? ~Mow

According to the site, the non-paintball Cushman's are made of .060 plastic and weighs between 3 and 4 pounds. The kit I found on the 501st site weighs 11 pounds and are made from what he calls "Rubber resin" which they claim is not brittle.
The Cushman's is $165 assembled and painted.
I'm still waiting on a price with postage from the other guy, but the price listed in the post is $220 for the kit that I would have to trim, assemble and paint.

I did find a guy in the post who says he has a Cushmans that "died a slow death" (whatever that means). I think I'll send him a PM and ask his opinion of the Cushmans. Since I got approved with Vader, I don't troop my TB a ton, so if the Cushman's is OK, I might just go with that.

I would still love to hear people's opinions on the subject.

Thanks!!!

If you get a cushman buy the kit form and then give it to me and Wags we will trick it out. Dont spend the money to have them build them. we can drill out the barrel holes add an inner barrel and paint it up as they come they are weak on detail and look like a vacuformed toy. They can be made to look nice with a lot of work, skill and time.

Cushman guns are extremely soft in the detail department and require lots of work to make them look realistic. You'd be better off talking to a certain member of our garrison who makes these guns the last time I checked.

Due to the lack of details and for what little you get for the money, I personally would not buy any Cushman products.

I've seen time and time again people who buy them and sell them later to "upgrade" to something different.

That's kind of the general consensus I've gotten. I heard back from a trooper in Australia who had a Cushman's and never even finished it before selling it to get something better.

Maybe that "certain member" will read this and contact me and see if we can work something out (if he still makes them that is).

Thanks for all the info!!!!!!
