Re: Imperial Officer- WIP

Post by Myshadowstar »

ok productive day. Got the sandpaper and bondo couldn't find the glue though may try hobbie lobby some point. Worked on the proto-type of my pants pattern we modified from the mens pattern. Yes I know its green fabric but hey it was that or an african print :P

Image

a little baggy still but then these ended up capris mostly because we didn't have enough scrap fabric. Final will be full length with elastic stirups like my jedi ones.

Image

also going to shorten the waist area as it rides abit high making it not fit well at the top with too many wrinkles.

any further suggestions let me know. Hoping to do final pants either next week or following depending on schedule. Till then will be working on gun as weather allows.

Yay pics :) ok been working on blaster trying to get most of it done before it gets too cold and I start freezing or worse my costume stuff freezes.

If you want to see more I did mostly closeups on this day see my photobucket:

day 3 of bondo complete

now have to start sanding this bad boy down and see where I'm at... hopefully the weather holds as I'd rather not have bondo dust all over the house. Not to mention my cats will want to "help". lols

oh and a creative way I found to hang it in the house to avoid the monsters while drying as too cold outside for it to set properly.

If you have a shop vac, or even a vacuum, you can turn it on with the extension and sand in side while it sucks up the dust. I do that in the MC to cut down on the dust.

Looks good so far Heather!!!

Ok yay for updates :)

Got the pants done hopefully they look ok lols

Image

Image

I did one w flash so doesn't seem to be too shiny of a material.

Also over weekend started sanding blaster. Looks like I won't be able to paint till gets warmer out darn it lols but least it will be ready for it.

Image

Image

unfortunately used up all my 400 grit paper so sandings on hold till I can get more. Inside scope hardest bit as I dont want to sand it down too much and mess up the lens area.

Next week will prob start tunic on sunday not sure how much I'll get done.

Very well done on the holster! The dye job is especially nice, I always have issues with those, and yours came out beautifully. The lining is also a very, very nice little extra.

Ok back from the Man Cave. Got lots done. Thanks Wags for your help

Primed, Silvered, and Painted my Blaster. Gonna let it sit a couple days and weather it. Also got to paint the handle "wood" like. After that seal that bad boy up. I have a semi gloss should I do that or a satin?

Image

Image

In between added more sealant to my holster and polished my belt buckle.

Image

Checking with mom tomorrow to see when can work on the tunic again see if we can get it working well in the mock up then on to real thing.

yay now time for bed lols

Ok last couple days have been working on the tunic. Finished the mockup which is wonderful yellow and blue lol. Made more adjustments based on that to the pattern.

Today had all lining cut out, cut the interfacing, and the regular fabric. Started piecing today w mom we are on step 9 out of 54

Here are some pics of progress. I have more of actual pattern but I didn't want to shrink them since can't read the writing then.

Officer Tunic Front Inner Flap:
Stitching still required for the pocket (where you can see the black) and to the darts at neck and waist. Interfacing applied already.
Image

Officer Tunic Front Outer Flap:
Dart at neck added, dart at waist put in via seam, pocket added as well as interfacing.
Image

Officer Tunic Collar:
One side with interfacing one without still to be stiched together.
Image

Back of tunic no interfacing required. Just has princess seams and dart at back of neck.
Image

Hoping to get more done tomorrow. not sure if will be finished or not hoping to at least be done before head back to work.

awsome :) thanks a bunch Crimson are ya going to be at any events coming up? if so we can meet up.

Got more of costume done tunics about 3/4 way done. Paint should be dry enough to weather and working on tonight while watching movies then will paint handle.

Not sure can I use the E6000 to glue on the code disk to my belt buckle or should i find a better way to attach it?

Also whats the best finish for a gun satin or semi gloss?

Then gotta find a place to print hat patten and will do that and my belt.

Final will be the 2 belt boxes/pouches got my mint containers just gotta figure out how to convert them :)

yay getting closer!

For my belt, I drilled holes through both the disc piece and the buckle, then affixed them with a machine screw and nut. E6000 should be pretty darn good for hold, though (it's what I used to attach the magnets to the badge, and they're not coming off with moderate pressure).

I might go to the Port Huron hockey game, but I'm not 100% yet. We'll figure out a way to get it to you! :)

kk cool. I was planning to use that glue then and score both the buckle and the back of the code disk to make sure it sticks really good :) if it doesn't work out I'll just pick glue off and drill then lol.

E6000 is holding my Aurra Sing blaster together just fine. Even after a tumble down the steps at the Whitecaps event this summer, other than divets and chipped paint, nothing. Locktite works probably a bit better, but it smells to high heavens.
