Chippewa Boots

Post by Darth Katz »

I have a pair of Chippewa motorcycle boots size 8 1/2 that I would like to use for some costume. Any ideas? Can I use them for an officer?

Thanks.

I would need to see a picture of them to be sure what boots you are speaking of. Chippewa makes many different motorcycle boots. Please post a picture of the boots.

But to answer your question. No, motorcycle boots can not be used for an Imperial Officer. However, depending on the style of boot, it could be used for many different Star Wars Costumes. If they are the correct style it is possible they could be used for a Tie Pilot, Imperial Gunner, Death Star Gunner, Imperial Navy Trooper, Reserve Tie Pilot, AT-ST Driver, Imperial Crewman, Imperial Crew (Mechanical Crew), X-wing Pilot and Rebel Fleet Trooper. [*Edit. Now that I know what the boot in question looks like, I do not recommend it for any of the costumes above.]
If you would like more information on any of these costumes, just ask.

The boots you are talking about can be used for Vader should be tall enough for an officer. They are not like the jack boots worn by most of the Empire.

Mow the Chippewa motor patrol boots are a commonly recommended boot on the SLD.

Oops. I was looking at the engineer boots on the Chippewa site. I clicked on the "Street Warrior" link(thinking it would take me to the motorcycle boots) on the site and ended up in the engineer section. I saw the engineer boots and they match the jack boot style I was refering to above. Looking at the "Motor Patrol" boots, while they are the correct style at the bottom, they are too tall for what I mentioned.

The "Motor Patrol" boots (at 17") might be tall enough for an officer but I'm not sure about the buckles and the split at the top. I thought that the officer boots were English riding boots without any laces, buckles, zippers, etc... I would defer to the IOC to see if they would be acceptable with the buckle/split at the top.

Right. Equestrian boots are closest, and require the least tearing up. Buckles would have to be removed and splits would depend on how bad they are.

The buckle has to be removed for Vaders as well.

From the Vader CRL:
Note: The strap/buckle at the top is not required; this area is covered in full costume and may or may not be there based on the style of boot.

Those boots can't be used for Officers. While the buckles and straps can be removed, that split is pretty significant, as is that embossed logo on the side. Officer boots don't have outside splits at all, and removing that top strap would still leave that gouge where it used to be.

Perhaps the officer CRL needs to be updated. As it stands all they have to be is knee-high, black, lace-less, non-textured, and not made of rubber.

I'd have thought it'd be pretty self-explanatory and common sense that an embossed logo of an Indian head would be a no-go no matter what any CRL says ;)
