Getting Started

Post by STRWRS »

After exploring my options for Stormtrooper armor I have decided to go with the ATA kit. Everyone says it is high quality and the guy that runs it is pretty cool to deal with. I am currently on the waiting list with an October/November timeframe for kit delivery. In the meantime, I thought I might work on tracking down some of the other items that I will need to get started. I'm looking for guidance on where I can find the following items:

1) Black undersuit (prefer 2 piece)
2) Neck seal
3) Gloves
4) Boots
5) Holster
6) Blaster

Also, do most legion members paint the traps and tube stripes on the helmet (bucket) or do they use decals? If decals, where would you recommend I look to get decals for an ATA helment?

Thanks for any advice that you can provide.

FISD has resources for most of these items with many project runs.

For the undersuit, we usually just go to the sporting goods store and buy Under Armor compression shirts/pants or something similar.

1) Black undersuit (prefer 2 piece)

Target stores have C9 by Champion black compression tops and pants for <$25 each.....they seem to be in-store only and not on the website though.

2) Neck seal

3) Gloves

Going EIB/Centurion? Go to the Dollar Store and grab black latex/rubber gloves (in the cleaning section). Then go to a Army/Navy surplus store and ask for a set of Nomex Flight gloves in whatever size you wear. ~$20

4) Boots

No idea what people are recommending here. Probably TK boots.

5) Holster

Bernard might be taking a break, I'd get on the waiting list ASAP.

6) Blaster

These came out recently and have been a big hit. PM Terrel78 on his thoughts on these, I'm pretty sure he has one.

Scott M. (look at the moderator list on the Blizzard Force board: http://www.blizzardforce.com/forum/ )
....makes sticker sets for the ATA Stormtrooper helmet cheaper than Trooperbay does. He charges $10 shipped.

I like Bobby (Darman) for holsters, he also makes budget neckseals too.

Just getting started myself, currently in the research stage of choosing what kit and who/where to pick up other gear from. This thread was very helpful so far, any additional advice on armor etc. is appreciated.
