Andrew's Death Trooper

Post by Ashinavier »

This is gonna be a thread were I post updates on my Death Trooper armor progress. I purchased my armor from 850 Armor Works on Etsy and had to wait four and a half weeks for its arrival. I've got all the armor rough trimmed,I'm going to start sanding edges to fit my body, but here is a (ROUGH) mock up using masking tape. Its nice to have a mannequin to throw stuff on! Also got the approved boots in the mail today and they look spectacular. Things are moving smoothly so far, my dream is to have it done for Motor City Comic-Con in 2 months. Thoughts? I would love to hear some comfy ways to attach the armor to myself, I know everyone has different rigs but i'm open to suggestion.

Looking great! Are you keeping a thread on the Spec Ops forum?

4 1/2 weeks is lightning fast compared to some makers.
850 has a good rep in the Shoretrooper build groups. This is the first time I've seen their DT though.

Yeah I made a Thread on the Spec Ops forum, and I had a chat with 850 before I bought the armor to make sure it was to 501st specs. :D :D

Agreed, not an outcast. This'll be awesome! Are you able to do the voice modulation with some available gizmo or gadget? I dig the voice of the Death Troopers.

Can't wait to troop with you at MCCC.

Im gonna do the voice modulator eventually but probably wont have it done for MCCC. I agree though, the voice of the DT is super awesome. Would love to know about any possible armor parties, I would love to get some help strapping my armor and glueing some parts together.

I ordered my helmet from ArmoryShop on Etsy a few days ago so i'm super exited about putting together the kit. The seller is located in Russia so hopefully I can get the helmet before MCCC. I know i'm gonna be able to get the costume done, but the helmet may be at risk of stoping me from trooping at MCC. HOPE THE SHIPPING GODS ARE IN MY FAVOR! :? :?

Be careful with ebay, amazon and etsy. A lot of that stuff is garbage. A lot of those people will tell you their stuff is 501st approvable just to get your money. You lucked out on the 850armor purchase. Not too sure about that Russian vendor.

ArmoryShop is a reliable source for Death Trooper costume parts. The Spec Ops forum thread for DT's highly recommend his stuff. :D :D I get the speculation though, I know first hand about getting scamed on places like Etsy.

Thanks for the info! :D Although i have seen their FB page, I was not aware that they were considered approvable. Seems like there is a new prop maker popping up every day. Getting harder to keep track these days of who is legit/approvable and who is just some yahoo on the internet who bought a 3D printer and all of a sudden thinks they are a "prop making company", or if it's just another scammer.

Your DT at MCCC was cool. You were with your brother controlling the voices, right? We will have to get you weaponized!
