Attaching hand armor and thermal detonators
Hey Gang,
Was just wondering what are the different ways you attach both the hand armor and the detonators. As of now i have an elastic strap attached to the armor that slips around my hand , it does the job but is a little sloppy and i find myself adjusting it a lot. Can you just attach it to the glove itself? and what would you use?
Second item is i have velcro holding my detonator on and i know i should switch to the metal clips. Where do you get those at?
I think those are the last 2 items on my tweak list

This is what I did for my handplates. Granted, Im a clone, but it should work for a TK. These are nyeodimium magnets. They work really well.

For the detenator use the 7/8 wide holster clips from Tandy leather.

Heads up. They are online only items now for Staples and Office Depot. Office Max never carried them in store.SL2280 wrote:go to a office max or what ever and ask for Bankers Clasps

If you can't find them over there, let me know. I have a Tandy Leather store right down the street from my work. I could pick them up for you!grand moff propman wrote:is this online? or a brick and mortor store?terrell78 wrote:For the detenator use the 7/8 wide holster clips from Tandy leather.

Re: Attaching hand armor and thermal detonators
For my thermal detonator, I've used the bankers clips, I lined them with soft-side velcro to add some 'thickness' for a better grip. My belt is duck cotton, so it wraps around those. Sometimes, it gets tucked into my back armor (kidney and butt plates are seperated), there's some velcro leftover from an old mod inside, and it gets caught on that, which isn't necessarily bad.
For my hands, I bought some Harbinger canoe/kayak gloves, which have a closure strap on the back, near the wrists. I put a button snap in the strap, with the button snap back, adhered inside the bottom of the hand armor plate. That snaps to the strap, and then I have an elastic loop that goes around the palm of my hand.
I'll try to get pics of the hand armor today.
Here's some of the detonator:
And the section of black velcro, you can see in this pic, where it sometimes gets tucked into unintentionally.

Re: Attaching hand armor and thermal detonators
Here's a picture of how I modded my hand armor. There's a strap with velcro that goes around the palm. The snap keeps the bottom of the hand plate in place.
