well you could just use some glue to control the tear. like a stop stitch on fabric to keep it from fraying farther then you want. But it could be more trouble then it's worth and the costume and umbrella already look amazing.

are you going to weather the umbrella like the pics?

I know that ultrasabers.com has 24' blades. check them out if you like them alittle smaller.

Top is fairly strait and even, but the bottom ring/lip is really uneven from left to right.
