Re: Newbie

Welcome! That kit might be considered a collectors item, seeing as it’s not made anymore. The maker was one of our garrison members who passed away several years ago.

The last I knew, Maker of Things was blacklisted by the different detachment forums for being a recaster.

My bad. Seemed a lot longer than that.

Just curious…your status on your post says “Reserve”. I don’t think that requires re-approval (if it’s correct). You should just be able to troop to get reactivated.
Yah, he’s been gone roughly 5 years or so, so he’s definitely retired.

Re: Hello! Hello! A new one to the group.

This is the usual advice I give to people looking to start out: Read here first: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Join_Us Then sign up for the detachment of the character you want to do. The "detachments" are the character-specific web sites we have set up where you can find armor vendo...

Welcome! We have character-specific web sites we call “detachments” where you go to learn about building a particular costume. For stormies, head to whitearmor.net. For clones, 501stclonetroopers.com.

Re: Any upcoming armor party’s ? Looking for help with my tk ears.

Good idea , eventually I’ll have to tackle em again, appreciate the input! There’s always something you’re going to want to tinker with later on and modify. Happens all the time. And with all the wear and tear that goes on, something always needs fixing. Just about everyone has horror stories of th...

Re: Any upcoming armor party’s ? Looking for help with my tk ears.

Honestly, if they’re telling you it’s good enough, I wouldn’t worry about it. If you look at the screen used costumes, everything was a bit wonky. If I’m not mistaken, the only time those ears were perfect was with the R1 TK’s. Also, you could just leave them as-is for now and upgrade them later on ...

Re: Anyone familiar with EVA Foam Armor?

Sorry, but foam armor is not allowed for membership. If you’re looking to do an RC, head to the forums at 501stclonetroopers.com to learn how. It’s not as hard as you think. It’s basically a giant model kit. My clone was my first build, too.

For my clone, I used air conditioner weather stripping foam. Comes in 1 and 2 inch thick strips. Glued them in with E-6000.

Honestly, you’re probably better off buying a vac-formed kit than buying a printer and trying to set it all up before you can even print anything.
