It can be done as long as you have to free time to work on it.

Tell me if I'm crazy...

I have found a good, solid date for my goal. I would like to have it presentable for the Monroe Comic Con on October 3.

Right now I have done
  • Chest piece (except for a couple of straps that need to be sewn)
  • The Left Forearm guard (about 50%)
  • Both Hand plates
Stuff that is not done
  • Right Fore Arm Guard
  • both Shoulder Bells
  • both Shin Guards
  • both Holsters
  • Painting
Stuff that needs to be 3D printed (printing starts tomorrow, and will run pretty much 24/7)
  • Belt - First Priority
  • Blasters - Second Priority
  • COM Pad - Third
What do you think? Does an individual with no armor building experience have a hope to meet this goal?

Old Rex - 99% (never be truely done)
Commando Rex - 75%
Anovos Classic TK - 66.59%

I would say yes you have plenty of time to finish it. But I've seen on your FB post that you have a new job. Congrats.

This might get in your way of finishing it and you definitely do not want to rush it. There are plenty of other Cons in the future to wear it at. I hope you do finish it by then, but dont rush. Missing one little Con is not that big of a deal.

I concur with Flash - DON'T RUSH! Do it right the first time - you will be much happier with your armor if you take your time. Do not worry about hitting a con, there will be plenty more.

With the new job, progress is slowing down, but has not stopped. I'm getting ready to start painting, even though I have yet to start the Shin Guards.

Alrighty

I missed my goal to be at the Monroe Comic Con. And I missed my original goal of being done before Season 2 of Rebels started. I'm ok with that, as long as I'm done for the Ep.VII premier.

And now that the first episode of Season 2 has aired, I have a lot more source material to get the details perfect.

I have to admit, that the weathering has me a bit concerned.

I still want to mist it with Grey, and possibly Tan, to add to the weathered look.

Thats a good start. If you hit it with a wash of acrylic black it will probably give you the look you are looking for.

No..... No it is not.

I have seen plenty of f'd up weathering jobs.

I tell people "less is more" and somehow it gets translated to "more is more". :whatthe:

Looking good. Let it dry and then gently hit it with a sanding sponge. And then as Flash said, the subtle use of an acrylic wash.

Emphasis on Subtle. Just put some black acrylic in a cap and mix it with washer fluid or window cleaner (dollar store) and start with that.

Or, if you don't want to do the acrylic wash, take black chalk pastels and grind them down with sandpaper and rub the dust into the armor.
