Chewie build thread......
Re: Chewie build thread......
Finished the front of one leg so I tried everything on to see how I fit and things like that.
Here's what I see:
1) Definately will need some trimming and grooming when I'm done
2) Will need to add snaps to the pant legs and shoes to help make sure my shoe laces don't show.
3) Also looking for suggestions on how to NOT have the sachel mess up the hair behind it.
Other than that, I think I'm rather impressed!!!
Anyone else??????

How is the hair being messed up? In the photo it looks like it is being pushed up, is there more to the problem than just that?

Re: Chewie build thread......
That's pretty much it, but it is apparently a pretty common Wookiee problem. I tried pulling the sachel away from my side after everything was in place and took another picture, but it happened again. In looking at the picture closer, I'm thinking (and I could be mistaken) that once I pad the shoulders under the suit to boost up the top half a bit, it shouldn't bunch up as much.
We'll see.
We'll see.

well, we could get together for a "hair party" (its not really armor is it? But i have a feeling it will be twice as hot! ) and see what a couple of minds combined can come up with.

I'm told that this is actually not as hot as you might think - and Humper, let's be honest - It CAN'T be hotter than Vader now can it!!

Re: Chewie build thread......
With you mentioning the need for a haircut, I just envisioned Chewie and 3PO going into a barber shop. Chewie growls and 3PO translates "My large, furry friend says he's in need of a trim- or he'll pull your arms out of their sockets. Why that is not a nice thing to say Chewbacca. I'm sorry he can be difficult sometimes."

Re: Chewie build thread......
Regarding your hair shifting problem. If you will always be wearing the satchel in that spot, you could use clear thread to sew some staggered loops around the upper 3-4 inches of the affected section. You may need to put a thin piece of fabric inside the mesh behind that spot to anchor the thread. OR, (just thought of this) you could do the same basic latch hook technique you're currently using, but to the inside to create the loops I'm talking about. I'm thinking 20-30 loops in an area the size of the satchel.

Re: Chewie build thread......
The front of the pants are DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also added a zip tie on one side of the head hole to shorten then width up a bit.
I just have the back side of the pants to hook, some trimming (OK a lot of trimming) and then punching the hair on the mask which should (hopefully) arrive in 2-3 weeks, and get my unshattered bowcaster from Duck and I'm ready to roll!!!
I can see the finish line from here!! It's still a bit of a trek to get to it, but I can see it!!!
The goal is to have the latch hooking done by the time the mask arrives. I hope the mask arrives by Dec. 18 because I'm off of school for 2 weeks after that so I would have lots of hair punching time!!!
