Looking for a 3D Printer capable of printing Clone Trooper Armor

Post by ARC98 »

Hi all, I need some advice/suggestions on a 3D printer that is large enough to print clone trooper armor, thank you for your input.

I have a Creality CR-10. I have been printing the armor parts for the armored assault tank commander (looks like the Shoretrooper) and many of the parts can be printed without cutting into parts. Example, the Fett helmet could be printed in one piece. Chest armor, back and abdomen armor would have to be cut into small sections to fit the print bed. Whomever you are getting the print files from may have done the cutting into small sections already. Prusa Slicer software, as a free download, allows you to resize, slice, cut the files.

Honestly, you’re probably better off buying a vac-formed kit than buying a printer and trying to set it all up before you can even print anything.

Thank you so much for the information.

Unfortunately, Crosshair's armor isn't in vac-formed kits yet.

Jimmiroquai is the only one making Crosshair armor currently. It's flexible fiberglass, not vacform. But it still exists as a kit.

I use an Ender 5 plus as my printer for armor, I've made a couple mando kits off of it and am making a shore trooper as we speak.

Aether, are you using Sean Fields files for the Shore trooper? I have the tank trooper files from him, which is basically a shore trooper in different paint scheme. My helmet is a resin cast, bought it on sale before I had the 3D printer. I use PETG filament as it is very tough and will not deform in hot sunlight.

GonkDriver I am using Mr Pauls files for my Shore Trooper but have printed almost everything except the helmet out of PETG at this point. I'll be printing the helmet soon as well but I haven't decided which model I will use for that as Mr Paul does not include the helmet in his files.
