Great Lakes Garrison & Base

I've never had a problem with E-6000 on my clone. Then again, I used A LOT of it and really strong clamps. I noticed that the top and bottom of the shim looks like it may be sticking out just a tiny bit too far, especially the bottom right corner. Kind of hard to tell from the pic. That could be the problem.

Is the ABS glue the same as the glue for doing ABS pipe? Something I can pick up at Home Depot, Lowes, or a local hardware store?

Yes.

Picked up some ABS glue from Home Depot and going to give it a try on a couple of pieces to see how it works.

The ABS glue worked great. This should allow me to finish up the forearms and bicep a little quicker.

The only issue I have heard with the ABS glue is that it actually melts the plastic together vs E6000 does not. Then again, this could be just a bad rumor too.

That is true and not an issue, unless you need to take the plastic apart.

Trying out the ab along with the cod and butt. Looking for how it should fit. How snug do you want the cod and butt? With the ab on I can not sit down with out the cod hitting the ab. How much return do you need on the cod and butt? Let me know what everyone thinks. Any help is appreciated.

That was the issue with me being a noob. I was constantly having to take things apart because I kept screwing things up.

Ok, was able to get my snaps installed to connect the cod and butt. Man, what pain in my ass that was trying to get the snaps to secure to the plastic. I can see why everyone uses Velcro on the back for help. Has anyone come up with an easier way to make this connection with out it coming apart while trooping? I have thought about bolting it together, but it would be hard to install the nut while trying to put it on. Has anyone tried magnets for this? I'm kind of already trying to think of another way for better security and hold.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

From what I can tell, most of us don't worry about the snaps. If they come off, the velcro keeps it in place, so no big deal.

Got my first chance to try out the Sludge technique last night on one of my biceps. I had a section that was off when fitting and I knew I would have to do something.


So I had been keeping all my scrap ABS as I went along and threw it into a jar with some Acetone.


I took the sludge and built up the section that was off on my bicep. I also decided to see how it worked on filling in the seams and some other small areas.



I guess once it dries I'll have some sanding to do to smooth out the seams and shape the built up area. Overall, I would say the sludge is pretty handy to have in case there are problems that come up.

Looking good so far! And just in case you haven't heard this part already, the sludge doesn't sand completely smooth. You will still have some holes which you will need to fill in with Bondo spot filler.

One side is ok.


While this side does not match.


Should I cut this side up it just leave it as is?

You can leave it. It's not an issue.

Thanks Ripcode. Now I have to decide if I want to see about graphing a section in to match, or just leave it.

No, it really doesn't bother me. I was more concerned about something like that not getting me approved. With what Ripcode said, I'm leaning more to leaving it alone and moving on to the next parts.

Man, really hating the calves tonight!!! They are giving me a hard time lining up and getting a good line.
