Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party
How the armor is connected together (velcro or snaps) doesn't matter for Centurion. Just the external viewable things, like the snap on the top right of the ab plate, the rivets on the left side, etc. All the basic stuff you need should already be in the box that the armor came in. Any variation on that will be up to the individual trooper. Some of the Anovos directions can be improved upon - like making a garter belt system for the thighs and drilling the side rivets in a different location, but basically no. Nothing needs to be picked up yet until he gets to strapping the suit. It will take longer than one armor party to get to that step. If anything, he should be cutting the armor parts out of the molds already before the armor party using that link from FISD I posted.

Going to start pre-trimming tonight!
Okay, moment of truth: I'm going to start pre-trimming the armor pieces tonight so I can make the most of my time at Ripcode's armor party on Saturday. Been studying the Ukswrath build link like a hawk, and I suspect I'll return to it regularly. But we gotta start somewhere they say. Utility knife, cut-resistant gloves, and safety glasses at the ready (I'll save all the ABS scraps!). Here goes nothing!

Use the score and snap method on the straight lines, but when it comes to rounded corners, you may want to use a Dremel tool to make the cuts. Both ways you're still going to have to sand the edges smooth anyway.JAYSONCOMGUY wrote:Okay, moment of truth: I'm going to start pre-trimming the armor pieces tonight so I can make the most of my time at Ripcode's armor party on Saturday. Also I don't have a set end time.
It will be either: We get a lot done or I get bored and kick everyone out.
Though working with a razor when tired, is never a good idea.

Everyone please bring spare shoes. A dry pair that you can wear in the house, so snow and water is not getting tracked into the house and basement.

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party
Got the bulk of the pre-trimming done, although I'm sure there will be plenty of cutting ahead as we approach fitting and gluing. Stupid Lexan scissors I ordered won't arrive until Monday (grrr!), so I'm at the mercy of my Xactos and utility knife, unless anyone has scissors or other tools they dare to encourage. Will bring a spare set of shoes for inside the basement, a thick sweatshirt, and 24 bottles of Guinness in a large cooler. I'll also buy us some pizzas when we get hungry.
Ready to join the assembly line!

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party
I will be bringing all of my tools that I used to build my clone armor, for everyone to use. I would also suggest everyone bring a lot of painters tape, the wide roles will work the best ( and my half finished mouse droid for ripcode to play with, lol)
