CW Kenobi Progress + Armor Making

Outside of my ongoing CW Maul project, I've been working on two other costumes, Ahsoka Tano and Obi Wan! I'm currently exploring different armor options outside of thermoplastics such as worbla, thibra and my personal favorite, terraflex. The requirements across the board for armored builds indicate that foam isn't acceptable as-is, nor should it be. Once this cold snap lets up I'll take Kenobi's armor and Maul's legs outside to be primed and try some fiberglass. I've done some research and it looks like fiberglass is an acceptable alternative to other hardening methods for foam armor, so long as it doesn't erode the eva foam. The foam I use is always 5mm or thicker, so I'm not worried about the piece collapsing under the added weight.
Right now the entire ensemble is very unfinished, but I hope to have all the pieces cut out of foam today and heat primed. I am going to taper the bottom of the front and back panels of the chest piece and hopefully attach the collar without too much of a struggle. If I have some more time I'll begin the foam wig! I've watched these being made before for other costumes and I think that the overall look will be very stylized and recognizable like the animation. I did a makeup test not too long ago with a paper mock-up and loved it, so I'll continue this thread with finished pictures and more babbling about how I got there.

If anyone has some tips or suggestions with foam armor and fiberglass, I'd love your input! I've always stuck with thermoplastics. I have enjoyed watching the market for them grow, but i'm ready to try something new. Let me know if any of you are going to Motor City Comic Con! My sister will be dressed as Ahsoka and I'll be going with her as Obi.
