Hi gang,
My name is Geoff. I havnet posted on here for quite awhile. I was trying to make a darth revan costume but that is just not happening. Anyways I was wondering if you all know of anyone local that makes clone trooper armor. I really look forward to being part of the 501st and trooping for charity. I think that is Awesome. I think I have finally saved up enough money for some armor. Can anyone help me?

My one word piece of advise for you is - PATIENCE!!
Believe me, I was a revved up as anyone once I first saw the GLG at an event to get some armor and get trooping, but patience and research are your two best friends when it comes to getting and constructing your armor. I grabbed a set of Biker Scout armor off of ebay, and while a majority of the armor was good, I did end up replacing the flight suit, the boot holster, the thermal detonator as well as having a TON of modding to do to the helmet to get it approved. I also spent a good piece of change more than I needed to, but at the time I was just rip roaring ready to troop.
Check out the sites, get people's opinions on things, and be ready to work. There are lots of people here who will HELP you work on your armor once you get it (I'll be calling on some of them soon myself as I work on my top secret project) but no one is going to just hand you a ready to go set of armor. It just doesn't work like that.
Good luck with your search and your build,
Chris

www.clonetroopers.net is a great place. The detachement CO goes by the name of Tourment. He is a stickler for detail and has a VAST knowledge of ANY clone. He give very good constructive critisism and great advice.
Like Cblack says.. patience. This isnt a overnight task. We have armor parties that a large # of people show up to. Even if they arent working on their costume, they come just to help others. Its a great place to learn a lot of tips and how-to's. Plus it saves you from making a lot of $$$$$ mistakes
My best advice for you to do in your "free time", read, read, read.... There are so many threads with such great info. Most of them from people who have been doing this for some time.
Although you will not find any one local that makes Clone armor, dont be worried about buying from out of state. The people that make the stuff are good people. Just read, and you will start to see who makes what. Its mostly the same people. And you might find that you can make some stuff on your own. We have a kinda of "No name policy". Meaning, dont say "Hey, who makes armor and how much?" Take your time and people will start to point you in the right direction.
Do you research, introduce yourself on the clone boards, let them know that your ready and will need assistance. a lot of people start with no hobby skills whatsoever. But end up being darn good at it.
