I need to know if you guys (and gals) think I should try to narrow the sides of Chewie's head at all. I have a suggestion that I can try, but I'm torn as to whether it's necessary or not.
What I would do is wet the hair, pull it tight and blow dry it a bit to try and get it to lay a little flatter. I've already hairsprayed the living crap out of the thing so I don't know if it will even work, but I'm wondering if it's even necessary. Let me know if you think it's good like this or if I should try narrowing. Notice the 2nd pic isn't nearly as bad. All I did was run my hands over it to smooth it down between pics.
definitely need to keep those sides slicked back, the bottom photo looks much better than the top. Top photo looks like a freshly fluff dried wookiee, whereas the bottom looks more like a smuggler wookiee. I think a little thinner (without cutting) would look better.
If you style too much, can you wash the hairspray/mousse/gel out of the mask?
I'm not sure. I've put so much on the mask to get the hair to cover what needs to be covered and lay the way it needs to lay (and stay that way while I troop) that I'm not sure.
if you wet the hair and blow dry it back, it will only last so long. once you start getting warm and the hair dries out, it will friz up like in the first pic. best bet is to get a strong hold gel (LA looks) put a bit in your hand and then get your hands wet and rub together like if you were washing your hands with soap. Then slick back your hair. That will give you the hold and keep the gel from getting to clumpy.
I trimmed the underneath part of the moustache and sprayed the snot out of it and it looks much better. I'm trying the same thing one more time on the sides of the mask and I think I'm then going to call it an end (at least for right now). 5 months of nearly constant work has gotten very old and I'm ready to say I'm "done" (in quotes because you are of course never DONE).
The sad thing is... I come from that area of Kentucky originally.... And when you posted that, I wasn't all that disturbed.... He vaguely resembles a cousin of mine actually.
Excellent work on this build overall..

You might try trimming under layers of the hair, shortening them up a little bit. the longer hair on the top layers will be able to lay a little flatter & not look quite so fluffy. Try talking to a hair stylist (seriously!) & see what they might have to say. Or better yet, just walk in to a salon fully wookied & see what they'll do for you. Have a translator for all the grunts & growls. Save it for an event in a mall.
