This is what I started with

And viola!

It is resin. Solid resin. It's really sturdy. If anyone is looking for one, you can contact the guy that makes them here: shizzy4you@gmail.com. Tell him Russ sent ya! The paintjob looks a hundred times better in person. I followed these tutorials:
Woodgrain:

Metalize:

You have to get the exact paints or it doesn't come out right. This is the cheapest place I've found for the Mohawk paints:
http://www.cdmcabinethardware.com
The gun itself is $60 (which includes shipping), the Mohawk paints are $24.20 (which includes shipping), the black paint was $3.47, silver metallic $3.47, Krylon Matte Finish to take the "shiny" off $3.47, (all from Wal*Mart), and the ivory/off-white paint for the woodgraining was a Behr sample for $2.94 from the Home Depot. It's for my 5 year old son who has ADHD. Sturdy or not, during the Adventurecon troop its getting superglued to his hands. LOL!
