The start of a new torso

Post by Zachg56 »

Just got the AP armor pieces for the start of a new torso section for my armor...I'm pretty amazed at the size difference between AP and FX armor series.

Luckily, I'll be able to rebuild the armor pretty quickly, minus the ab buttons, still waiting on the piece for that to come in heheh

My questions are: for the straps, what are the exact sizes and colors needed for each section?

I know that the belt boxes strap can use the same as the shoulder bell straps...but what should be used to hook up the back plate to the...uh....rear plate, and what should be used for ab plate to upper legs?

Next: how far apart should I place the button holes?

Ok. got the correct strap sizes to strap the rear plate to the kidney plate, as well as boxes to the belt and the upper leg-ab plate as well..

I currently don't know whether or not I should buy 2 in. wide white elastic to use to connect the ab to kidney plates or just wait for the button plate and shims to come in since there is essentially approximately a one inch or less gap between the two plates when put across my body.

Sorry for not posting any pictures...I cant seem to find my camera

I finished putting the chest-straps-back plate together using the same system on the old armor. It works rather well for the time being, however I believe adding an elastic strap might make putting it on and off a bit easier.

Quick question, would you recommend that I sand the ABS plastic before gluing the fabric on or no?

EDIT: Here is what the ab/kidney plates currently look like w/o any straps or shims

I can't tell if that is 1/2" or 3/4" gap...Whenever I tried to get a picture at a good angle, the kidney plate would shift a little here and there...

Thoughts?

A majority of the bottom section (ie, soft straps and what not) has been completed, the chest and back piece currently have just the shoulder straps for connection, but that will soon change once the elastic strappings have been completed for those as well.

My younger brother ended up taking these pictures while I wasn't looking (and quite frankly didn't have everything all evened out and juuust perfect) but here is what the torso currently looks like...and yes I know the back is at an angle...was merely checking if everything fit together...
