Phase II Darktrooper Build

Hey everyone!

So here's my project that I've been working the last few months. I hope to be the first Phase II Darktrooper for the Legion. This one is going to be based off of the Darktrooper from the game, Star Wars: Galaxies. At first I started out sculpting the pieces, then moved to cutting pieces out of plastic and gluing them together. Here's some pics of my early progress.

Now I am scraping all of that and going to try a little more modern approach using a CNC machine and some 3d models of the Darktrooper. Currently the project is on hold for a little bit as I wait for a CNC machine to be built (my dad is converting his mill). However, here an early shot of the model before I scaled it for humans and added some details to it.

Well I've gotten back on track with this the last couple weeks. I decided to go a Pepakura route with this and have been making good progress. So far the knee plates and biceps are finished. All the other pieces of armor need some sanding and some more rondo (bondo and resin). I'm hoping to knock out a couple pieces everyday and have this thing finished and ready for approval around mid-July. Here's a pic of a kneeplate for you guys (it still wasn't quite done when I took this photo a few days ago).

Well I've finished every piece of armor besides the helmet and torso. Hopefully I'll get those knocked out this week while I work on detailing and painting the other armor pieces. And then get it all rigged up for approval.

Got some pieces painted today while working on details for the other pieces. Hopefully get the arms and maybe even the legs painted and finished tomorrow. Then finish the helmet and torso on the weekend and have the last few details finished by the end of the week.

What kind of under suit will you be using from both game and action figure the under suit looks
like cord or tubing

Well only in one spot (between the thighs and cod armor) does it actually look like the tubing on the SWG version. So I'm going to just attach some tubing in between them and wear my regular undersuit from my Nova. I'll also construct a separate piece for in between the ab armor and the chest.

Otherwise progress is going good on this thing. Just a few more pieces to finish up and this thing will be done!

How tall are shooting for on this?

Well I scaled everything to human proportions, since the SWG-style is roughly the size of a regular TK. I'll probably end up being a bit under 7' with everything on though.

Well here's the first test fit of everything together. Some things look they need to be lifted up instead of being scrunched together in some spots.



I'll get those issues fixed this week and hopefully have better pics by the weekend.

A minor update on this. I decided to rework the legs and the helmet since they appeared a little too polygonal after seeing it with the camera flash.



Hopefully get some new paint on this in the next couple days.

Is that a side shot of the calf? If so, it looks good man!!! nice transition into the ankle. Blends well.

It's actually the front of the calf (the part on top is the kneeplate). Thanks for the comment though!
