what to look for when buying armor

Post by icejedi08 »

I've been looking to buy my first set of Storm Trooper armor for a while now and I might have found a set that will work for me. But I don't really know what I'm looking for. I've looked at the 501st website and got some good pics but what about little details? or signs that it is a crap set. I would really like to join your Garrison and could really use some help. thank you

Hello!

If you haven't been there already, go to whitearmor.net, it is the one stop website for all things Stromtrooper.

Start with this thread:

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/1 ... find-them/

Good luck!

its a set I found on craigslist it looks pretty good but you can never tell until your in front of it. though im a little nervous because I asked if he used the armor in the 501st and he said he had never heard of it. why would you have a full set if not to be in a garrison

Probably a Rubbies he bought somewhere. Officially licensed, not very accurate. Unless he's asking somewhere in the $1000 (just a base point, don't go crazy on me guys) it may be a knockoff or recast. Which you don't want. Ask for pictures, then post here or on Whitearmor. Lots of knowledge and someone can figure it out.

I agree if someone has armor and does not know of the 501st my bet it is a Rubies. Try to get pics or post the link to CL. If you really are serious to join the 501st then start your research at whitearmor.net - about 98% of your questions will be answered.

The process may seem long but you will be much happier with the final outcome

And a lot less poorer by avoiding spending your money on things you shouldn't ;)

Yes, post pics if you can get it from the seller, as well as the seller's asking price. If he's never heard of the 501st, then I'll agree that he's most likely asking way too much for a piece of garbage.

Those boots unfortunately are not approvable for 501st. The helmet also looks a bit funky to me. Someone else will have to weigh in on the maker though. Looks maybe Rubies to me. What is the asking price if you don't mind me asking? There may be alternatives if you are looking for fully assembled armor.

That is not the armor you are looking for, Move along, Move along......

That is a Rubies. Yes those boots will not work and the helmet of the Rubies in my opinion does not look like you can mod it be acceptable. As for the rest of the suit you may be able to mod it to 501st standards but you will spend a lot of time, money and frustation to do it.

Keep checking out the forums on whitearmor.net and decide the best armor for you. The wait may be longer, the initial cost may seem higher but you will end with a suit that fits you, looks good, and was fun to build.

So take your time and have FUN! You will be glad you did.

Good Luck!

Yup, avoid. Totally not worth the money or effort.
