Hello everyone. TK192 here. I have a request for all of you. It has been quite a while since I have seen a lot of you. The reason is that I have recently been diagnosed with PTSD. It is due to a situation I was involved in on quite a large scale back in 2006.

I have posted a link at the top for an organization called Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs out of Williston Florida. They pair service dogs with veterans and first responders. I have been selected and approved for one of these dogs. My question is this...I would like to coordinate a fund raiser for this organization in the near future as they are a non-profit organization. I am posting this to find out if I can generate the support from my fellow troopers to make this a success. It is my goal to raise $22,000 to sponsor a dog to be trained and donated to a needy veteran or first responder on behalf of the Great Lakes Garrison. If this is a success we will name the dog. Please click on the above link and see for yourself what a difference these dogs are making in a vets life. Please respond if you are on board with creating a fund raiser to sponsor one of these wonderful animals as I will be the recipient of one of them very soon. I am working with a local woman in Rochester hills. My goal is to bring in the local VA out of Ann Arbor and the veterans organizations to have a day in the park, barbecue and fund raiser. Please help These vets as someone has helped me. Thank you.

It will be a bit before I get things to where we identify a date. I wanted to poll everyone and find out what kind of support for such an event could generate. I will be traveling to Williston Florida hopefully in the very near future to be paired with my dog. I will spend 10 days being trained. I am working with Jolanthe Bassett out of Rochester Hills who volunteers as the Michigan Rep for Guardian Angels medical Service Dogs. Every animal is donated to the veteran and first responder. This is why it is so important for supporters to donate and hold fundraisers. Thank you for posting up in support of this cause.

I will be able to provide many more details hopefully very soon. I am waiting to go down to Florida to be paired with my dog. Once I return I will be able to define a date, location, time. I am currently working to obtain supporters for a Pig Roast in the park. This way it can be promoted as a definite family event to the general public. I am also in contact with several previous recipients to come out and speak to help educate and demonstrate what these wonderful dogs have done for them. It is also my hope to have different veterans organizations present. I do not believe the information out there is as it should be. In addition I have also been in contact with local radio stations that may be interested in coming out and broadcasting for a period during the day. I am leaning toward the Cascade Falls Park in Jackson as it is a favorite location for local families. However, I am planning and coordinating with my Contact
Jolanthe Bassett. Ultimately, my Goal is to Raise $22,000 for Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. This will pay for the training, care, vet bills as well as the travel cost for the future recipient. With the full support and if we can raise enough we will have the honor of naming the dog. Once the dog has been trained and is paired with the recipient I hope we can have a meet and greet with the recipient. This will require a strong showing from our Garrison as well as hopefully our sister organization Great Lakes Base Without people raising money and donating their time and talents I would not be receiving my Guardian Angel!
