Got my GM helmet in the mail today (Wednesday).
Hope I can get some time this weekend to get started on this. This is my very first Costume build and as I've heard a very difficult build at that. Got a good tutorial to follow for the helmet.
Its a little on the dirty side because I got called into work, but I couldn't leave until the mail came. Had to take it with me to work to show off
Needs a good wash anywho to get the releasing agent off.
Awesome!! A GM is a killer clone. Not many around. I think SteelBlitz on the clone boards makes some of the part. You should be able to contact him to see.
As I was working on this helmet this past weekend, I came to a conclusion that I wasn't utilizing my garage properly. So I went into a garage remodel. Just rearranging it around. Almost done with it, and plan to resume work on the helmet Saturday.
Been sanding and grinding and sanding and grinding and sanding and grinding most of the day. Think I have it ready for some primer. Waiting for the temps to come down some more.
I had to look over the CRL on this. there wasn't one a couple months back that I saw, but there is one now. I need to have a thin bead trim line around the helmet. So was thinking, would a weed wacker line, bondoed over, possible work? or I'm open to other suggestions too.
Had to go back a couple of steps and add a trim line around the brow and edge of the helmet. So I have the trim line on now. Touched up some areas that needed a little more work. Believe after the touch ups are sanded down, I can primer and paint.
Sorry my W.I.P. on the helmet hasn't been moving much lately.
Had an attempted break-in a few weeks ago. Monies I saved for helmet and armor had to go to fixing window and surveillance cameras. Kid was caught, we go to court tomorrow. Nothing was taken, never got in. Hope to get back on the helmet soon and finish it up.
Having a difficult time attaching the cowl. Fabric is not my friend. Anyone near the Saginaw area willing to lend a helping hand? Either I could come to you or you could come to me.
Build is going slowly. Wife took a travel nurse position and has been in Abilene, TX since the beginning of January. I've been working on non-fun stuff lately (house, bills, checking. etc.). Tossing around the idea of quitting work and maybe going back to school. Not sure about that though as I have a daughter starting MSU this fall, then my step-son starts college next year.
yah, i hear you on the slow build. been working on mine for almost a year now. still have a ways to go.
and from what i remember from broadcasting school, they told us those tv directing jobs cause quick burnout. can't blame you for wanting to quit. my wife just walked out on hers too. so much stress at that drug store that she was getting chest pains.
