OK so as you may know, I totally caved in and bought the soft parts for a Snow Scout which I will now begin to poke away at. This thread will be to chronicle my progress to completion.
Here's about what I'm hoping to look like when I'm all done!!!
I will probably do this without the weathering since (I think) it kind of defeats the purpose of having a SNOW trooper with black marks all over him. But hey, that's just me!!
Snow is dirty. I am sure if you were a trooper out in the snow your gear would get messed up, where there is snow the is melt'n snow and that makes mud and dirt.
+ it help with camo. snow BDU's have blacks, greys and whites and some times a hint of brown.
But you are a rookie so it may work out for a while with a nice pretty white clean uniform
I have the action figures and had been talk ing about doing a snow scout for a little while. It will just have to wait till I get money and other costumes done first. the Action figgures have a biker scout chest plate not the snow trooper one in the picture. They carry either the E-11 or scout pistol.

That's the one problem is consistancy.
The reference pic has s snowy chest plate, but the action figure has a TB. The lack of consistant reference is most likely what is keeping it from being Legion approved (I would think - but what do I know ).
That was from 2007. He will have to update the "standards" he created since now there are the action figures wich are full 3d representations. I am going to do mine action figure accurate. The figures have the Knees of a snow trooper as opoopsed to the biker scout knees upside down.

That and you need at least 3 refrences to make it an approved costume from the EU.
I will do a Biker scout first than the snow scout. Hopefully there will be more refrence pictures of the snow scout by then.

The action figure looks like a TB with white soft armor and gloves, and TS shoulders, arms, knees, and mukluks, right?? That's even easier - I have most of that already!!!

the figs do not count as a ref. for an EU style costume
If you want it for a legion costume that will count as a TOD for events then you make it to best fir the ref images (anything but toys) if you want it just for kicks and as a laid back fun con costume . Then u make it to what ever eay you want. But for 501st approval then it HAS to fit the ref images or the CLR when the time comes.
The soft armor arrived yesterday.
The only problem I have is that the sleeves are a little short on me. Here's my first thought on how to fix that.
I'm figuring that the shortness of the sleeve will be hidden by the forearm armor that goes down to the wrist so I was thinking of putting a strip of velcro on the outside bottom of the shirt sleeve. The other side of the velcro would be on the top inside of the forearm armor to keep them together and in place. I could then get a set (or 2 if needed) of white wristbands to go inside the forearm armor so no skin would show.
Am I thinking right or is there something else short of replacing the sleeves I could do??
Here is the only pic (that I know of) of a Hoth Scout
Kinda hard to tell some of the details, but I like the look of the pics I posted before of the costume that was already made. I think I'll go with that - it should be close when the time comes!!
It should be cool. when I finaly do mine I personaly like the Figure version. It makes more sense to me to have the TB chest as it allows more hunched over head first position on the speeder bike. The snow clones from the Clone wars had snowie chest plates but their bikes were a Layed back "swoop" or "chopper" feet first style bike.

So that would make the ROTJ version the "ricer" edition?
