Martin Pondell has been a fan of Star Wars since the first time he saw it with his parents in the theater.

"I was just amazed by everything I was seeing so much so that I kept looking around to see where the ships were coming from."

Marty's favorite event so far has been the Detroit St. Patrick's Parade, an event he does every year. He was inspired to join the group after being a member of the local Star Wars Fan Force group, R2 Detroit, and noticed some of his friends from that group were also members of the 501st. After doing some events with them and seeing all the wonderful things the 501st did, he was hooked and set off on "one of the best adventures of my life."

Outside of the Legion, "Darktrooper013" is a Loss Prevention and Safety Patrol Officer for McKinley,Inc. His board name is character from the Star Wars expanded universe. Marty says, "I read a short story on Darktroopers and and was fascinated by them and the destruction that only one of these bad boys could cause. I decided on using the name.

"If you're going to use the name of on Imperial super battle droid, might as well use the most unlucky number, 13."

For fun, Marty enjoys bike riding on a quiet day or hitting the water on his wave-runner some place where there is more water and less people and also enjoys collecting Star Wars toys.

In his personal life, Marty recently returned and graduated from college with his associates degree in Criminal Justice. He also received highest honors for doing this. In his own words, "no one was more surprised at this than me."
