Robert Amid has been a fan of Star Wars since the first time he saw A New Hope (or Star Wars, as it was called back then)
at a drive-in. That showing also happened to have some costumers at the concessions building there that night as well, planting the seed for what would come later. Rob's first run in with the 501st was at Motor City Comic Con, where he saw "cool armor" and was "blown away."

Rob's favorite events so far as a member have been the West Michigan Whitecaps games. Rob says that joining the 501st has
changed his life in many ways such as developing a lot more skills from building armor, but more importantly "all the cool people that I've met and the good friends they've become."

Outside of the Legion, "Freak Nasty Fester," as some of us have come to call him, is a Continuous Improvement Manager in the aerospace industry. When asked about his board name, he said "Salt shaker + shaved head + being with Blizz in a bar = nickname." Outside of the 501st, Rob's favorite pastimes are collecting Star Wars stuff (specifically Fett stuff, clones, Master Replicas/efx and Gentle Giant) and he is also very active in his church as a high school youth leader and a member of the board of trustees.

In his personal life, Rob is married to Tracy who is also a 501st member (ID 3153) and is a father of 2. His other
accomplishments include nominations to West Point and the Naval Academy (but did not go to either as he wanted to go to the Air Force ROTC), Society of Manufacturing Lean Certified, guest speaker for National SME event in Grand Rapids and is a three-time Graduate Assistant for Dale Carnegie.
